The Dowel Shaper TS from Elkhead Tools is an innovative attachment for the table saw that allows you to make smooth, accurately round dowels from any wood species.  There are a number or advantages of shop made dowels over those that are commercially available including cost, dimensional accuracy, and unlimited choice of wood tailored to suit your project.   We are working on Dowel Shaper TS versions to make 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch dowels.
